Dress Requirements for Middle and Upper School Students
We require standards of dress in order to demonstrate respect for the educational environment, avoid distractions, and set a good example for our younger students. The School reserves the right to resolve any questions regarding students' dress and appearance. Our judgment in such matters will be based on clothing being neat, clean, modest, and appropriate for the occasion.
Not acceptable:
-
Messages conveying violent, sexual, drug-related, or anti-social themes
-
Excessively short skirts or shorts
-
Excessively revealing, low cut, sheer, or oversized clothing
-
Exposed undergarments of any kind, including bra straps
-
Bare midriffs or bare backs
-
Tube tops or halter tops
-
Leotards or bathing suits
- Hats, caps, or hoods indoors
-
Flip flops for fifth and sixth grade students
-
Bare feet
Clothing worn to special School functions and year-end ceremonies must be appropriate to the dignity of the occasion and must not attract undue attention to one individual at the expense of others. Boys' attire at special functions will be dress shoes (no athletic shoes), slacks, shirt, necktie, and jacket. Girls' attire will be dress shoes and modest, conservative dress appropriate to the season.
Students not in conformance with the dress requirements will be asked to change promptly. Students in violation of the dress code who do not have an acceptable change of clothing at School will be sent home or will be given a change of clothing by the School. Repeated failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.
