Strategic Plan Highlights
In the winter of 2004, twenty members of the Laguna Blanca community were invited to participate in a process that would lead to the crafting of a new Strategic Plan for the school. These individuals, representing students, faculty, trustees, administrators, alumni, and parents--both past and present--formed the Strategic Planning Committee. They met ten times over the subsequent 15 months, under the guidance of strategic planning consultant Jim McManus. Key strategic areas were identified and distilled, and further feedback was sought by stakeholder groups. The result of this extensive, inclusive dialogue and deliberation was the creation of a renewed School Mission Statement and formulation of Laguna’s new Five Year Strategic Plan.
STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS
Academic Program The School will refine and enhance the educational opportunities to achieve K-12 curricular integration and to provide a rich, broad and personal learning experience that develops skills critical for success in a rapidly changing world.
Human Development The School will build a community that nurtures and promotes physical and emotional wellness, instills ethical and honorable behavior, and develops compassionate leaders.
Faculty, Administration and Staff The School will attract, hire, and retain exceptional faculty, administration, and staff to maintain school stability and enhance the advantage of a Laguna Blanca School education.
Marketing and Communications The School will promote a deeper awareness and appreciation of its qualities and benefits among prospective and enrolled students, their parents, and the Greater Santa Barbara County community.
Site and Facilities The School will address its immediate and long-term spatial, technological, and programmatic needs to guarantee highly effective and desirable educational settings.
Finance and Development The School will expand major fundraising efforts and develop additional revenue sources to reduce reliance on annual giving to balance the operating budget, to increase the endowment, and to build the long-term financial strength of the institution.
