Welcome, Families!

On behalf of the Family Association (FA), I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family for the 2023-24 school year! We are looking forward to a school year filled with many events for community engagement and student enrichment.

The Family Association serves our entire community. As families with children at Laguna, you’re invited to participate in and volunteer for the many FA events and projects. For new families to Laguna and Santa Barbara, the FA is an excellent way to meet new people and help build community. All new families have been assigned a Host Family. If you have not heard from your Host Family yet, please let me know so we can help establish those connections.

Please remember to check your email for the weekly school e-newsletter, Laguna Links, which is the best way to stay connected to happenings at Laguna. The school calendar on the website is another important resource for the most up-to-date school events, athletic calendar, and news.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on this year’s FA Board. We are looking forward to a great year!

GO OWLS!

Family Association President (2023-24)

What does the Family Association do?

List of 10 items.

  • Family Association Overview

As family members or guardians of a Laguna Blanca student, you are automatically a member of the Family Association. Our goal is to create an enriched campus life for students, families, and faculty. We support all these areas with events, enrichment programs, and fundraising.
  • Family Association Learn @ Laguna

The Family Association holds informal, informative meetings every other month during the school calendar year. These Learn @ Laguna meetings (formerly known as Lunch & Learn) are a great way to get the big picture of what’s going on at Laguna Blanca. The agenda typically includes reports from the head of school and divison heads, and features a guest speaker from the school or our community. Questions or concerns about school-related issues can also be freely discussed. Refreshments are provided and all are welcome.
  • Family Association Interest Groups

The FA aims to create an inclusive community by bringing together interest-focused groups to benefit the school and families. These committees engage families from all divisions and create a strong community across all grades, with a focus on organizing social gatherings every 1-2 months. If you wish to get involved and spearhead one of these committees, email VP/Interest Groups.

Ways to get involved

  • Come to the Family Association Learn @ Laguna. Attire is strictly come-as-you-are, and food and drinks are provided. This meeting is truly one of the best and easiest ways to meet other parents and be in the know on up-to-the-minute Laguna news.

  • Volunteer! The Family Association always, always, always needs fresh faces and enthusiasm to complement the faithful and fabulous parents who are already involved. If you see an event or program that you’d like to help with (even just a little), call the event chair (or come to any FA meeting) for information. To find out about volunteer opportunities, email the Family Association President, or check the FA tile in MyLaguna.

  • Buy some spirit wear from the Owl Store for your kids, your friends, your relatives, and yourself. Wear it with pride!

  • The Spirit of Laguna Jogathon & Family Festival in October is a very enjoyable all-school event and a great introduction to the kind of high-quality events that make Laguna—and the Family Association—so extraordinary. Your help is needed to make this amazing event happen – come pour water, cheer on the kids and enjoy a family festival after the running ends. This event also kicks off the annual Laguna Fund.

  • Show your Owl Pride! Get into the spirit of Laguna by taking part in the annual Homecoming each fall. In fact, cheering for the Owls at any sporting event during the year is a wonderful way to be a part of the school.

  • It takes tons of creativity and connections to put together the fabulous annual spring benefit -The Golden Oak Gala. Parents are the ones who obtain items and donate goods to be auctioned for the benefit of the school... and parents are the ones who make the event a huge success, year after year. To volunteer for the auction, email the Development Office development@lagunablanca.org.
