Morello honored as Laguna’s Phil Womble Award winner

Whether it’s said in Latin or English, Cameron Morello is a special student-athlete at Laguna Blanca School.

The junior was honored Monday as the school’s winner of the Phil Womble Ethics in Sports Award at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Morello is a captain on the varsity lacrosse team and carries a 4.46 grade-point average. One of his strongest subjects is Latin. He’s won gold medals at the National Latin Exams, and works as a teacher’s assistant in the subject at the middle school.

Sailing is another passion. Morello is a member of the Laguna Blanca sailing team and is an instructor during the summer at the Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation. He also plays volleyball, basketball.

Morello also excels in technology. He is the director of technology on the LBS student council and the “go-to beta tester for anything technical” for one of his teachers at the school, reported his lacrosse coach Ray Robitaille.

Cameron is the son of Julie and Nick Morello.
