“An honest heart being the first blessing, a knowing head is the second.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
The Upper School is a small and tight knit community where inspirational academic teaching abounds. Students benefit from strong faculty-student and advisor-advisee relationships in an atmosphere where enthusiasm, humor, and persistence are found in equal measure. Students are encouraged to develop their individual passions and live enriched lives all while receiving a time-tested liberal arts education.
While the academic program is challenging, the prevailing ethos is one of cooperation and mutual support. Our quiet campus setting amidst oaks and open space minimizes distractions and allows students to maintain a primary focus on the two pillars of academics and character development. Personalized college counseling begins in ninth grade, is an integral part of the Laguna experience, and ensures that students have the necessary support to make appropriate decisions for life after Laguna.
Opportunities for leadership roles are multifaceted in the Upper School through participation in ASB government, three student publications, theatrical productions, and the many clubs and activities open to all grade levels. Because of the School’s no-cut athletics policy, students can also play a variety of sports. Laguna competes in the Condor League and fields teams in three different seasons.
We recognize that selecting the right school for your son or daughter is a significant decision. As you work through this process, please stop by and visit the campus. Doing so will help you realize why we are so excited about the School and the myriad opportunities it offers.
