Laguna Blanca’s application period begins one year in advance of a child's anticipated entry. For priority consideration, applications are submitted between September and the application deadline of February 1. Please note: Laguna continues to accept and review applications after the priority deadline on a space available basis.

  • Step 3 - Schedule a Campus Visit

To schedule a tour or class visit, please contact us at 805.687.2461 or email admissions@lagunablanca.org.

    Tours
Tours continue throughout the year on both campuses and offer the best way for you to begin your exploration of Laguna Blanca.

    Class Visits
Visiting classes plays an important role in helping a student determine whether Laguna Blanca might be a good match both academically and socially. As this is an important part of the school search process, the receipt of an application prior to scheduling is not necessary. Visiting students arrive at the admission office prior to the start of school and are paired with hosts whom they "shadow" for the day.
  • Step 4 - Testing

    EK-K
Applicants have a one-on-one personal evaluation and participate in a Saturday playgroup to better determine a child's readiness for Laguna's programs. The personal evaluation is scheduled in January or February after the application is received. The playgroups are held in February as listed below. Parents are invited to enjoy coffee and conversation with an administrator/teacher during the playgroups.

    Saturday, February 6, 2021 | 9AM or 10:45AM for Kindergarten applicants
    Saturday, February 20, 2021 | 9AM for Early K applicants; 10:45AM for Kindergarten applicants

    Grades 1-4
Children spend a portion of the morning visiting in the classroom with the students and teachers, as well as sit for their personal evaluation. Children visit in the grade in which they are currently enrolled (e.g. second grade applicants visit in first grade). These visits are scheduled in January and February after the application is received.

    Grades 5-12
Register for the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) online at www.iseetest.org, by mail, or by phone at 800-446-0320. The ISEE is offered in the Santa Barbara area on the dates listed below. Laguna requires that the test be taken by February 23 for priority consideration. If you are unable to test on one of these dates, please register to take the exam at another school or a Prometrics site at www.iseetest.org. Laguna Blanca’s school code is 053255.

    January 23, 2021 | 8:30-12:30 | Laguna Blanca School, register before January 2, 2021

    February 6, 2021 | 8:30-12:30 | Crane Country Day, register before January 16, 2021

    February 20, 2021 | 8:30-12:30 | Marymount of Santa Barbara, register before January 30, 2021

Please note: Laguna accepts results from SSAT, PSAT, or SAT in lieu of the ISEE for students applying to grades 9-12. Laguna Blanca’s school code for the SSAT is 3774.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS applying to grades 5-12 are required to submit results from the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) in addition to results from the TOEFL, TOEFL Jr., or iTEP exams. Laguna Blanca’s school code for the SSAT is 3774.

When to Arrive and What to Bring
As with any test, it is recommended that students arrive well ahead of the examination start time of 9:00 a.m. having eaten a nutritional breakfast. It is also suggested that students dress in layered clothing as classroom temperatures may vary site-to-site. A small snack and water will be provided at break times during the exam. Students are asked to bring four (4) sharpened #2 pencils with erasers and two (2) black or blue ballpoint ink pens (erasable pens are permitted). No other materials—calculators, books, papers, rulers, beepers, or cell phones—are permitted in the examination room.
  • Step 5 - Schedule an Interview (Grades 5-12 only)

After the application is submitted, please contact the admission office at 805.687.2461 to schedule a personal interview. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Laguna is conducting personal interviews via Zoom.
  • International Students

The application process is identical for domestic and international students, with the exception of the following:

    1. For all applicants, a campus visit and interview are encouraged. For those unable to visit in person, the admission office schedules Skype interviews.

    2. Testing requirements include an English proficiency exam, with this information in Step 4 above.

    3. A certificate of deposit from your bank stating that your family can afford Laguna's tuition. This is a required part of the student visa process.
