Celebrating Community at Field Day

Our annual Field Day on Friday, April 10 was a joyful celebration of Laguna pride, bringing together students from all three divisions for a full day of games, school spirit, and community connection. Across campus, students cheered one another on, built connections across grade levels, and enjoyed a day of friendly competition.

The day kicked off with a highly anticipated faculty vs students basketball game in Merovick Gym. Students came out strong in the first half, taking an early lead, while faculty rallied in the second half to close the gap.  In a tightly contested finish, a late three-pointer secured the win for the students. Mr. Aslesen was named Basketball MVP, while Baylor Wilson ’26 earned recognition as Basketball Most Spirited.

Middle and Upper School students then rotated through a series of games, including kickball, capture the flag, soccer, and dodgeball, earning points for their teams throughout the day. The energy stayed high as students worked together to represent their teams with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

After lunch, the celebration expanded as our youngest Owls joined the festivities for an all-school pep rally, where Lower School Physical Education Instructor Coach Robitaille, who will be retiring after 46 years at the school, was surprised with a parachute filled with thank you notes and messages of appreciation from faculty, staff, and students. He then led the crowd in a spirited Strawberry Shortcake cheer, setting an enthusiastic tone for the afternoon. Lower School students joined their assigned teams to compete alongside older peers in the Hobby Horse Relay, Water Balloon Toss, "Swoop Says," and an obstacle course.

At the end of the day, Team Purple was named the overall winner. Team Red earned recognition as the Most Spirited Team, and Carter Plowman ’26 was named Most Spirited Senior.

Field Day highlighted the strength of our community and the joy of coming together across all grade levels. From competition to collaboration, the day reflected what makes Laguna so special, students and faculty supporting one another, celebrating effort, and building connections beyond the classroom!
