Students Gain Career Insights at First Cookies & Careers Panel

Students in Grades 9–12 enjoyed our first Cookies & Careers panel during Community Time last week. An inspiring group of professionals representing STEM and Innovation, Business and Entrepreneurship, Creative Arts, and Global Citizenship shared their career journeys and lessons learned, highlighting the many paths that can lead from school to meaningful work. A common theme across each presentation was the importance of staying flexible—being willing to pivot, remaining open to learning and growth, and continuing to hone in on one’s strengths and passions.

One student reflected, “I thought the Cookies & Careers panel was super inspiring. I loved hearing the panelists’ experiences going into college and what life was like after, finding a job, and beyond. To see how they all had their own paths to success was super motivating and honestly a little reassuring.”

Following the panel, students gathered in the Senior Quad to continue the conversation with our guests over cookies. Thank you to our parents panelists, Dr. Ben Howard, Dr. Sherry Nasseri, Kate McHale Jensen '99, and Stephen Sobhani '96, for taking time out of your busy schedules to connect with us. And big gratitude for our College Counseling Office for envisioning and creating this meaningful opportunity for students to connect, ask questions, and explore what life after Laguna can look like.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 18, from 6:00–8:00 PM for our College Application Case Studies & Mini College Fair.

RSVP here by March 13 to reserve your spot. Space is limited. Priority registration will be given to Grade 9–10 students and their parents, as well as eleventh grade parents. Please note that eleventh grade students will participate in a separate case studies program hosted at The Thacher School on Tuesday, April 21 during the school day and do not need to attend this evening event.

Questions? Please contact Ms. Flores at vflores@lagunablanca.org.

This event is co-hosted by the Laguna College Counseling Office and the Regional Admissions Counselors of California.

Additional details will be shared in an upcoming Weekly Laguna Links.
