Super Learning Takes Flight in Kindergarten

There’s a brand-new unit in Kindergarten this year, and it has our youngest superheroes flying into learning!

Designed to make the first weeks of school more playful, engaging, and connected, the new Superhero Unit introduces students to important Kindergarten skills and classroom routines through hands-on activities built around something nearly every five-year-old loves: superheroes.

Over the course of the unit, students explored syllables and rhyming, matched uppercase and lowercase letters, identified beginning sounds, practiced early math skills, and more. Sensory bins, Play-Doh, games, and imaginative play kept little hands and minds busy while helping students become comfortable with the routines and expectations they’ll use throughout the year.

And what better way to finish than Superhero Day?

Decked out in personalized capes and masks, our Super Students took on a series of superhero-inspired challenges. They captured spiders using their “Spidey Senses,” launched Bat Mobiles, transferred green “kryptonite” with tweezers, experimented with raisins and carbonated soda for Ant Man, and tested their Captain America aim with mini shields.

The activities may have looked like pure fun, but behind all those capes, giggles, and superhero missions was plenty of learning, from fine motor development and problem-solving to teamwork, creativity, and persistence.

It was a super ending to a super start to Kindergarten!
