Cao filled in at the No. 3 spot and pulled out a 6-4 win over Fillmore's No. 2 player and then blanked the Flashes' top player, 6-0.

On September 29, Mackenzie Kinsella '18 and Katherine Monroy '20 each swept their singles sets, leading the Owls to a 10-8 girls tennis win over Carpinteria. Owls coach Rob Cowell said Kinsella played her best set in the third round against Carpinteria's No. 1 Jessica Santillan.

In doubles, Mia Waters '18 and Hannah Miller '18 rebounded from a first-round loss and won their next two sets. The team of Julia Bernard '18 and Sophie Henderson '19 won a pivotal tiebreaker of Karla Marin and Amy Perez (7-2) to help the Owls stave off Carpinteria.

On September 21, Laguna Blanca's doubles team of Mia Waters and Hannah Miller came up with the decisive victory in the final round, enabling the Owls to squeak out a 75-58 girls tennis win on total games against St. Bonaventure after the teams tied 9-9 in sets. Waters and Miller won 6-0 after losing their second round match 6-4.

"Obviously fired up by the close loss in the second round, they put up a decisive score to make sure Laguna would win the match in the games count," said coach Rob Cowell.

He also praised Lilly Holbrook '21 and Sophie Henderson for their ability to play three close sets, which proved to be crucial to the win.

In singles, MacKenzie Kinsella went 3-0 at No. 2 and Katherine Monroy won two quick sets at No. 1. Tiffany Yabsley '18 returned to the lineup and went 2-1.
