Laguna's 2018 Senior Project Award Winner is Kailea Hieshima

Kailea Hieshima '18 was recognized with the 2018 Senior Project Award for immersing herself in an agricultural lifestyle on a small family-owned dairy farm in Merced County.

As part of her senior project, Kailea learned to how to feed calves, milk cows, trim hooves, irrigate cornfields, and create nutritious feed.
The agrarian experience provided Kailea with a newfound appreciation for the dairy farm’s efforts in treating their livestock humanely, as well as how hard it is to put food on the table. Most importantly, she affirmed her desire to pursue veterinary medicine at UC Davis.

The Senior Project Award represents high honors for a collective body of work, and outstanding participation in all senior project requirements. The top award is given to the student who demonstrates activity that goes significantly beyond the required work.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Kailea!
