Boys Volleyball concluded another incredibly successful season on April 27, losing the opening round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs to Newbury Park. The Owls finished with an overall record of 18-4, perfect 10-0 in Tri-Valley League play for the second consecutive year, and a league championship with that. The overall success of the program has kept Laguna in Division 3 for the playoffs, which is comprised almost entirely of big public schools and amounted to a very tough opening draw at Newbury Park HS.
Girls Beach Volleyball completed their season on April 27 as well, dropping a second-round match to Oak Christian in the CIF-SS playoffs. The Owls closed out their successful season with an opening-round CIF victory over Wiseburn Da Vinci from El Segundo, having earned the postseason berth via their 4-1 record and second place finish in the Tri-Valley League. The squad finished with an overall record of 8-8 and returns all but two graduating seniors next year.
Boys Tennis closed out the regular season with an overall record of 6-4 and a 3-4 record in the Tri-Valley League. The Owls end up 5th place in the standings and are not positioned to earn auto-bid to CIF as they did last year. The team awaits the possibility of an at-large bid to the playoffs, which if occurs, would be powered by their victories over much larger public school opponents—Carpinteria and Santa Ynez.
The incredible success of Laguna’s small squad of boys and girls swimmers carries over from last year. Kendall Keshen ’24, defending CIF-SS Division 4 Champ and runner-up respectively (200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke), has qualified to return in both events and contend to earn titles in both. Rio Valle ’25 joined the team and also earned two auto-qualifications for CIF in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Both are representing Laguna in the Division prelims on Tuesday, May 2 in Riverside. Jack Grube ’26 also delivered exceptional times in two events—100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke, earning CIF consideration marks in both events. If the field has space for Jack to compete in one or both events, Laguna will send their full roster to CIF for the second consecutive year.
The first for Girls Track in several years served as an excellent building block to continue to establish a program in the future. The standout for the team was Kira Rameson ’26, who won both of her individual events at the Frontier League Finals, earning her an automatic berth in the CIF Division 4 prelims. Kira’s first place finishes were in the mile with a time of 5:32, and 800 meter with a time of 2:31, which are the two events she will compete in at the prelims at Carpinteria HS on May 6.
Boys Golf completed their regular season strong, closing out Tri-Valley League play with two wins this past week and a 4-2 record overall. The squad awaits a possible team postseason berth and also has four members of the team earning qualifying status for league individual tournament which determines qualifiers for CIF play. Michael Wang ’23, Jules Leclercq ’25, and Mason Siegel ’25 finished the season with nine-whole averages of 41, 42, and 43 respectively, positioning them well for the league individual event. Ryan Kim ’25 also earned consideration to compete on the strength of his season-best round of 43.
