Muchas Gracias, Laguna!

For three years I have watched this amazing community persevere to improve in every way that matters. We have set goals large and small, and joined together as a powerful team to exceed even our own expectations. I have seen your support transform our classrooms, revamp our fields, and inspire our art. On Saturday night, this community of Laguna champions raised north of $400,000 dollars to support our students, our faculty, our facilities, and the programs that make us extraordinary. Our Laguna family demonstrated just how much Laguna matters. For the third year in a row, the outpouring of generosity was humbling.

There are so many people to thank, and I hope that when you see them on campus you will continue to thank them for their dedication and selfless commitment to making iViva Laguna! a resounding success. I know that I will. From Bert and Belle Regeer to Mason Farrell ’80 and the Board of Trustees, from our event sponsors and donors to our auction committee members, from our fundraisers who canvassed the community to the staff who helped to make it all look so easy. As a result of all of their hard work, the road ahead looks even brighter for our school.

At Laguna, our community is what makes us great—it is what defines our success, and our ability to endure and thrive into the future. We have an extraordinary faculty and staff, as well as an exceptional team of students and parents who care enough to show up and support us when we need it most. Camila Lemere’s ’18 video was magical for me, because it put words and images to the story of who we are. In Camila’s words, “We are made up of wonderful things all put together to create something that’s extraordinary.” She nailed it.

Saturday night was monumental for me—a night where I saw, yet again, what the sum of our parts can look like. It was moving, and I felt so proud as a parent, so appreciative as an educator, and so privileged to serve as your Head of School.

Thank you for trusting us, for caring so much, and for believing in the promise of Laguna as I do. iViva Laguna!
