Welcome, Parents!

On behalf of the Laguna Blanca Parents’ Auxiliary, welcome to Laguna Blanca School! As a parent or guardian of a Laguna student, you are automatically a member of the Parents’ Auxiliary (PA). Our mission is to encourage parent volunteerism, raise funds for the school, and promote school spirit through student activities and athletic events.

But, we can’t do it alone! The PA collaborates with families, school faculty and staff, and the Laguna Board of Trustees to organize meaningful and engaging activities that enhance the Laguna experience. We would love to have you join us—whether it is volunteering at the Jogathon or the Spring Benefit, serving student lunches, being a team parent, or pitching in during one of the many other events throughout the school year.

At Laguna, we value your contributions of time and talents. I look forward to volunteering with you!

Warmly,

Rachael Stein
President, Laguna Blanca Parents’ Auxiliary
Parent of Jack ’19 and Phoebe '21

What does the Parents' Auxiliary do?

List of 10 items.

  • Parents' Auxiliary Meetings

The Parents’ Auxiliary holds informal, informative meetings every other month during the school calendar year. These "Lunch & Learn" meetings are a great way to get the big picture of what’s going on at Laguna Blanca. The agenda typically includes reports from the head of school and features a guest speaker from the school or our community. Questions or concerns about school-related issues can also be freely discussed. A delicious lunch is provided and all are welcome.
  • Lunch Program

Auxiliary volunteers help serve delicious, healthy catered lunches to hungry students. Servers are always needed to make these programs work!
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation Lunches

Laguna’s hard-working faculty and staff enjoy periodic brunches, luncheons, or coffee breaks provided by Auxiliary volunteers. Parent donations of funds, food, or raffle items support these popular—and much deserved—events.
  • Laguna Spirit Wear

This year’s line of Laguna Spirit Wear features stylish spirit wear including hats, hoodies, tees and more—all quality items emblazoned with the Laguna Blanca name. The perfect gift for students, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends – wear the Laguna name with pride and a great sense of fashion!
  • Refreshments & Hosting at School Events for Parents

Auxiliary volunteers help out at social events throughout the school year, including the Welcome Coffee on the first day of school, Parents’ Nights, and the New Parents’ Reception in the spring.
  • Spirit of Laguna--Jogathon & Festival (October)

Laguna’s Jogathon, planned and managed by Auxiliary volunteers, is a fun all-school event to raise money for the school’s athletic and physical education programs on both campuses. When the students are done running, the fun continues at a BBQ party and Country Fair for the entire family.
  • Owls in Wonderland Carnival (November)

This wildly popular Lower School event is free and open to the greater Santa Barbara community. A fun twist on the timeless tale of Alice in Wonderland, the carnival features interactive stations in art, science, Spanish, math, and other topics to emphasize the fun of learning in school. Though this free event is geared toward young children (ages 3 - 10), all Laguna Blanca Lower School students heartily enjoy themselves every year. Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity to volunteer their time and enthusiasm.
  • Spring Benefit (April)

The Spring Benefit is an elegant evening for parents of students, alumni, and friends of Laguna Blanca to enjoy themselves in supporting the present and future of the school. The Parents' Auxiliary works with the Development Office to plan the thematic event, secure sponsorships, and create a night to remember. The event includes varied options to purchase items in an online auction, silent auction, and live auction.
  • Class Parties, Snacks, & Social Events

Division chairs and room parents work with teachers, students, and other parent volunteers on student activities, class parties, snacks, entertainment, and other enjoyable school events.
  • Student Social Activities & Campus Spirit

With extra help from parent volunteers, Laguna Blanca room parents also help coordinate dances, parties, off-campus adventures and other special events during the year.

Ways to get involved

  • Come to the monthly Parents’ Auxiliary meetings. Attire is strictly come-as-you-are, and a delicious lunch is provided. This monthly meeting is truly one of the best and easiest ways to meet other parents and be in the know on up-to-the-minute Laguna news.

  • Volunteer! The Auxiliary always, always, always needs fresh faces and enthusiasm to complement the faithful and fabulous parents who are already involved. If you see an event or program that you’d like to help with (even just a little), call the event chair (or come to any Auxiliary meeting) for information. To find out about volunteer opportunities, email the Auxiliary President.

  • Buy some spirit wear from the Owl Store for your kids, your friends, your relatives, and yourself. Wear it with pride!

  • The Jogathon in October is a very enjoyable all-school event and a great introduction to the kind of high quality events that make Laguna—and the Parents’ Auxiliary—so extraordinary. Your help is needed to make this amazing event happen – come pour water, mark lap cards, cheer on the kids and enjoy a great party after the running ends. Funds raised are used to support Laguna’s athletic and physical education programs on both campuses.

  • Show your owl pride! Get into the spirit of Laguna by taking part in the annual Homecoming each fall. In fact, cheering for the Owls at any sporting event during the year is a wonderful way to be a part of the school.

  • Become a child again and jump down the rabbit hole at Laguna's Owls in Wonderland Carnival at the Lower School. This is a wonderful opportunity for Lower School parents to build Laguna community and reach out to Santa Barbara area children in a fun and interactive way.

  • It takes tons of creativity and connections to put together the fabulous annual spring benefit. Parents are the ones who obtain items and donate goods to be auctioned for the benefit of the school...and parents are the ones who make the event a huge success, year after year. To volunteer for the auction, email Marcy Jacobs in the Development Office.
