Advisory

Advisory is a time where we meet, discuss, reflect, play, compete, and serve together. At Laguna, your Middle & Upper School Advisory Program is central to making sure you feel known, heard, understood, and supported. You will be surrounded by caring adults who see learning as a collaborative process and who are dedicated to helping you succeed both at Laguna and beyond. Through advisory, you will build honest, lasting relationships with advisors, teachers, coaches, and parents while living out Laguna’s four core values: scholarship, character, balance, and community.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

In Middle School, you will join an advisory-based “house” named after one of the local Channel Islands, with 12–15 students across grades five through eight. Each week, your house will meet to check in, engage in character education, and plan service projects. Your advisor will also meet with you individually at least twice each quarter to talk about your academic, athletic, and social-emotional growth.

Your advisor will stay connected with your family, keeping strong communication between home and school.

UPPER SCHOOL

In Upper School, you will be matched with a faculty advisor and a small group of about 10 students. Your advisor will be your advocate, supporting you both personally and academically while serving as a bridge between home and school. Each week, you will meet with your advisory group to discuss a monthly theme—topics like health and wellness, gratitude, empathy, responsibility, diversity, and integrity.

Advisory gives you a safe and supportive space to connect with others, share your challenges and successes, and build a strong sense of community within Upper School.
