Honors Calculus serves to provide students with a strong foundation in calculus concepts. The course begins with an extension of students’ Pre-Calculus analysis of end behavior, as students explore limits and continuity. The topic of limits will then be extended into conceptualizing the derivative, and rules of differentiation. Applications of derivatives will include relating first and second derivatives to the original function, as well as an examination of related rates, especially those involving real-world scenarios and optimization. After a thorough study of topics involving derivatives, students will investigate how to calculate the area under a curve using different algebraic and calculus based techniques.
