LBS LOS PADRES CLUB SPRING TRIP

LBS Los Padres Club Spring Trip 2022

March 28 - April 1
Location: Manzana Schoolhouse Camp, Los Padres National Forest

Laguna Blanca works in partnership with the Los Padres Forest Association to offer a working vacation each spring. Laguna students backpack to a selected location within the National Forest to perform trail maintenance, which can be applied to their community service hours requirement. All equipment and expertise is supplied by the LFPA, who typically send one or two adults to join Laguna’s faculty chaperones on the 4-night expedition. It’s an unforgettable way to spend spring break and to give back to the local forest!

The trip is open to students in Grades 9-12 who are interested in camping, hiking, and trail maintenance. The trip fee of $250 is due by March 14. Participating students should turn in their Release of Liability Form to the front office by March 14.

Teacher chaperones Michelle Finck and Zach Lillie-Liberto, as well as a member of the Los Padres Forest Association, will accompany students on this trip.

SAFETY
The group is traveling with a Garmin InReach device which will send a programmed text message twice each day to families, signaling “all is well.”  Additionally, the device will send GPS coordinates to a website where families can track the group’s progress at regular intervals.  The device can also receive texts, if an urgent message must be sent.

All students must have a negative COVID test and be symptom-free as of Monday, March 28.
