College Trips

Laguna Blanca sponsors one or two college visiting trips a year, set to coincide with school vacation periods. Visiting locations are chosen based on a number of factors, the foremost of which is the presence of a wide variety of institutions, in both style and selectivity, located within a fairly compact metropolitan area. While every college visited is worthy of consideration by some segment of the Laguna Blanca population, the principal purpose of the visits is to acquaint students in ninth, tenth, or eleventh grade with the broad awareness of how undergraduate institutions differ from one another, as well as the skills needed to be an effective “consumer” of the undergraduate product. Practically speaking, this means that our visits will be more informal, often using self-guided tours in place of those offered by the admissions office, and rather than attend official information sessions, we will seek out information more relevant to the undecided student.

2021-2022 Fall Break Texas College Trip Details
The College Counseling Office is pleased to announce a college visiting trip during the 2021 Fall Break on October 7-9.

The group will fly to Texas and visit four colleges over three days: Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, Southwestern University, and the University of Texas, Austin.

The price of this trip will be $400. However, please note that this does not include airfare, which must be purchased by the student themselves.

Students will leave from the Santa Barbara Airport mid-day on Thursday and will return Saturday evening.

If you are interested in attending, please bring a deposit of $200 to the College Counseling Office. The twelve spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

We also ask that interested parties email collegecounseling@lagunablanca.org. Those writing a check should address it to Laguna Blanca School and write Texas Trip, as well as the student’s name, in the subject line.

Students will miss school and other events on Thursday afternoon, but they will attend classes before noon on Thursday.
Laguna Blanca is Santa Barbara’s premier private, co-educational, college preparatory day school for students in Early Kindergarten through Grade 12.
