Library

The Lower School Library is a cozy, inviting space that students can visit during both morning and lunch recesses in addition to their weekly scheduled class time.
Our librarians supplement the classroom curriculum when choosing which books to present to each class. Students are given information through fiction, non-fiction, and media materials. Working closely with each classroom teacher, the librarian becomes familiar with each student’s individual reading level in order to assist with appropriate book selections. Additional library programs include: the California Young Reader Medal for Grades K-6, a third grade book club, and a fourth grade Battle of the Books where Laguna competes with teams from other independent schools to test their knowledge on a select set of books. Each year, students look forward to welcoming world renowned storyteller Michael Katz for two separate assemblies and a two-day workshop for Grades 2-4.
