Daisy Finefrock '21 Named Senior Project Award Winner

The Class of 2021 successfully completed their final assignment of their high school careers on Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15 during their Senior Project presentations.

“This year, we bore witness to a truly triumphant ending of the Laguna careers of the Class of 2021," says Senior Project Program Director Trish McHale. "This small, pandemic-weary group had every reason to just go through the motions to find the finish line. Instead, they captivated us, both in the gym and via livestream, with relevant and memorable project presentations."

Daisy Finefrock ‘21 was recognized with the 2021 Senior Project Award for making an impact on a cherished local institution, Cottage Hospital, during the COVID pandemic.

In her senior project, Daisy discovered that her talents as a magazine writer and publisher were needed at Cottage Hospital, so she took a leadership role in creating the hospital's quarterly volunteer newsletter.
On top of publishing the newsletter, she mailed surgical kits, monitored COVID protocols of patient visitors, and finally hit the pavement to experience a 9-hour day of administering drive-through COVID vaccinations.

While the most meaningful projects often come from a senior's intended field of study, Daisy admitted that she chose an internship in a field that she had no plans of pursuing. But she says, "at Cottage, I felt love and good energy all throughout the building...I want to start implementing that even outside of senior projects and begin to be a kinder, more outgoing person everywhere I go. I am departing from this senior project and Laguna with so much more clarity on what I hope to accomplish in life and how I will conduct myself along the way."

The Senior Project Award represents high honors for a collective body of work, and outstanding participation in all senior project requirements. The top award is given to the student who demonstrates activity that goes significantly beyond the required work.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Daisy!
